There are many legends on the origin of the name Gryfów Śląski. One of them tells that builders of the castle found a nest with young raptors inside. A huge fairytale-like bird can be also seen in the emblem of the town. Nowadays, the neatly rehabilitated houses, the historical town hall and the parish church belong to the places of interest of Gryfów Śląski. The village has a well developed biking and hiking trail network. Nicely situated, from their hills there are gorgeous views to the Jizera- and Giant Mountains as well as to the valley of Kwisa. The bus stop is directly on the market square.
